With dancers most people only see the performance part of it.  Tell us more about what it takes as a dancer - the preparation, the difficulties and why it is all worth it to you.

The preparation dancers go through in order to achieve excellence is vigorous and intense. I use most of my freetime training at the studio and practicing for competitions. It takes a lot of energy, dedication, and perseverance in order to excel in this sport and art-form. Dance isn’t just flexibility, you have to practice unlocking your artistry and utilizing your movement quality. This takes a long time to hon. I didn't start feeling and understanding my movement until only recently, and I’ve been dancing competitively for 9 years now. Preparation to be a dancer is an ever growing and continuous cycle that requires passion and discipline.

Tell us more about yourself.

I’m currently on my high school drill team, the Lake Travis High School Cavalettes, but I have a long history as a competitive dancer. For 9 years I was groomed and trained for the stage, but I decided that in order to freely express my passion I needed to leave that world and train on my own. To me, dance is an outlet to feed the need for expression and communication. Theres no other time that I can story tell and let out everything in my head than when I’m moving. In the future, I’d like to continue sharing my sport that has brought me so much joy. I’d love to go to a college that has a contemporary dance program so I can keep up my training. No matter what I do with my life one thing is for sure, dance will always be a part of who I am
