What happened with the show? How did this make you feel and how did determination help you overcome this experience?
The well known saying “the show must go on” played out in this situation, whether I got the spot back or not. This pushed me to try even harder because I just wanted to perform and prove to my coach that I could do it. I went home every single day after school and practiced, practiced and practiced. The multitude of mistakes started to decrease and the recent absence of confidence soon came too. I finally showed my coach the work and she put me back in. After lots of hard work and the determination to get that spot back, I was able to prove to my coach my skills. The show did go on, but I was placed back in my spot and was able to show to everyone I am worth something. It felt really good knowing all my hard work and determination paid off, I grew stronger and more driven as a person. I know I can do anything I put my mind to as long as I stay determined and work hard. Nothing comes easy in this world, but having determination makes the challenge worth it in the end.
Tell us more about yourself.
I like to envision myself as a ray of sunshine bringing happiness and light to all those I meet. I am an optimist and try to see the good in every situation. I am very passionate about performing; the joy of being up on stage doing the things I love is immense. I take great pride in my schoolwork as well as community service. I am involved in my Schools interact club, I am a part of Starlight Community Theater’s Teen Council and I am also a Girl Scout. Being involved in the community is something I have done for many years of my life. I am also a part of the Winter Guard Team at my school and have since worked so hard to finally make it on to the Varsity team. I love all things nature and outdoors, whether its exploring new and exciting places or hiking a trail leading to a beautiful destination, I just love being outside in nature. Overall, I enjoy being busy and staying active.
After High school, I will be studying journalism at ASU and am excited to see where the world takes me next. I hope to be a news anchor reporting on the most recent events and not just giving news, but giving ‘real news’. I also aspire to be a travel journalist; traveling the world and sharing about different cultures or international events. I hope to be a light to others as well as a positive example for other to follow. I look for the good in everyone and believe that everyone deserves a fair chance at life. Positivity and hard work continue to lead me down this crazy path called life and the ride is wild.
